If you have a question, have not received your bib, or wish to upgrade/downgrade your event, please visit the Race Week Office

If you are unwell, please stay home and get tested. A COVID-19 Withdrawal Form is available on our website for those experiencing symptoms.

Race Week Office

The Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival Race Week Office will be operating at two MCG locations during Race Week for the following functions:

Start Line

Arrive to the MCG/Start Line at least 30 minutes prior to event start time to. This gives you plenty of time to verify your vaccination and receive your wristband, plus utilise the Warm Clothing service (if required).

Start location: Yarra Park Path, parallel to Jolimont Station.

SriLankan Airlines 10k / 3:00pm, Saturday 11 Dec
5km Run / 5:00pm, Saturday 11 Dec
3km Walk / 6:00pm, Saturday 11 Dec

SUNDAY 12 DEC, 2021
Start location: Batman Avenue, approximately 150m North of Rod Laver Arena.

42.195km Nike Melbourne Marathon / 6:00am, Sunday 12 Dec
42.195km Nike Wheelchair Marathon / 6:55am, Sunday 12 Dec
21.1km Nike Half Marathon / 7am, Sunday 12 Dec

Once you are at your Start Line, please be mindful of your competitors and give each other space where possible. Remember, your timing chip activates as you run through the start arch so the minutes it takes to get there won’t matter! 


Warm Clothing

A Warm Clothing service is available over Event Weekend for participants to leave a bag of their belongings, to be collected post-race. There is a tear off part on the bottom of your Race Bib which you will need to attach to your Warm Clothing Bag. You must collect your Wristband before coming to your dedicated Warm Clothing drop off point.

SriLankan Airlines 10km: from 1:30pm, Gate 1 on MCG Concourse⠀
5km & 3km: from 3:30pm, Car Park Entry A via Brunton Avenue⠀

Sunday 12 December⠀
Nike Marathon: from 4:30am, Car Park Entry A via Brunton Avenue⠀
Nike Half Marathon: from 5:00am, Gate 1 on MCG Concourse


Vaccination Checks

As you know you must be fully vaccinated against COVID19 to participate. You will be required to show proof of vaccination status or a medical exemption when you arrive on site. You can use your phone or bring printed proof. There will be check in points near the MCG, Yarra Park and the Start Line.

Once verified you will receive a wristband which will allow you to freely move into the start chutes and complete your event. Marshals will be spotting wristbands along the course and visual spotting will occur at the entry to the MCG finish line also – so do not remove your wristband until well after the race and you have exited the MCG.

Digital

  • COVID-19 Digital Certificate using the Service Victoria app 

Printed

  • COVID-19 Digital Certificate or Immunisation History Statement 
  • Australian Immunisation Register Certificate 

An exempt person must provide an Immunisation History Statement obtained from the Australian Immunisation Register as proof of their exemption this can be obtained through a medical practitioner.

N.B Applies to those aged 12 years and 2 months or older.


Transport & Parking

Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your event start time. We highly suggest that all competitors take public transport on the day, due to limited parking space, traffic congestion on race-day and the convenience and close proximity of public transport from the start line and MCG.

Parking

Yarra Park There will be limited public parking at the MCG in Yarra Park for the Melbourne Marathon Festival.  Enter off Punt Rd through Gate 5 & 6 from 10am Saturday 11 Dec, and from 4am Sunday 12 December. Parking is $10 via card only.

Alexandra Avenue (between Swan St Bridge and Morrell Bridge) Once you find a park, walk across Swan St Bridge and take the footbridge over the rail lines. This leads directly to the MCG’s.  Allow 10 minutes walk time. 

Fitzroy Gardens (Wellington Parade /Lansdowne St/Albert St/Clarendon St (city side only)
 Once you find a park, walk to Wellington Parade Sth/Jolimont Terrace and use the MCG paths to the Ponsford Stand or Gate 3. 

Anderson St (access off Domain Rd or Alexandra Ave) Once you find a park, walk across Morell Bridge and take the footbridge over the rail lines. This leads directly to the MCG’s Ponsford Stand.  Allow 20 minutes walk time.

Public Transport

For Public Transport options please refer to PTV’s Melbourne Marathon PT Information. With thanks to PTV, all Marathon competitors will now have the option to catch the Night Network to the start line. Click here for Night Network website. Normal Myki fares & ticketing will apply.

Buses replace trains on the Mernda, Hurstbridge, Cranbourne, Pakenham, Frankston, Sandringham, Werribee and Williamstown lines. Plan ahead at ptv.vic.gov.au

Please note the most convenient train stations to arrive at are Richmond and Flinders St Stations.

Drop and Go Locations

There are x2 Drop and Go locations for this using a ride share app or are being dropped off by a friend / family member. 

  • Wellington Parade (the corner of Wellington Parade and Wellington Parade South) – best suited for Saturday participants and Sunday participants that need to go to the MCG prior to the Start Line. 
  • Olympic Boulevard (out the front of Rod Laver Arena) – if you are a Sunday participant heading straight to the Start Line, this drop off location is best for you. If you need to use the Warm Clothing Service, we recommend getting dropped off at Wellington Parade.

Bikes

There are a number of bicycle hoops located next to the stadium in Yarra Park. Please do not park your bike on the MCG concourse. 

Walking

If you plan on walking to the event, please remember to review the road closure information.


Road Closures

There will be road closures around the MCG that will affect traffic and access to parking on race day. If you have an enquiry about traffic and road closures, please contact our dedicated Traffic Enquiries Line.

Merch Store

An exciting range of new official Nike Melbourne Marathon merchandise will be available for purchase on race weekend.

The merchandise store will be located on the concourse between Gate 2 and 3 of the MCG and will open during the below hours. Please note, card and electronic payments only.

Saturday 11 December 9:00am – 8:00pm
Sunday 12 December 4:00am – 1:30pm.

If you have Pre-Paid Merchandise to collect, you can collect this from the Race Week Office from Dec 6-10, or at the Merchandise Store on Dec 11-12.


Spectators

Friends and family are invited to cheer you on as you cross the finish line. Free entry into the MCG will be available for fully vaccinated spectators through Gate 2 on Saturday from 2:30pm and Sunday from 7:00am. Spectators and Participants are unable to meet within the MCG, instead we recommend locating a meeting spot within Yarra Park. 

Bikes and Pets are not permitted inside the MCG (Guide Dogs excepted). For spectators with prams, if you intend to watch the Event within the MCG at the finish line and have a baby or a toddler; prams and pushers will be permitted into the MCG’s spectator areas located in the Olympic Stand and Member’s Reserve. Easy to fold pushers are recommended.

They are also be able to track your progress and watch the Festival’s live stream through the official Race App launching soon.


Nike Cheer Zone

The Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival’s Cheer Zone is situated on Linlithgow Ave,  only a few 100ms from Flinders St Station. 

Opening at 6am Sunday only, get up close to cheer on runners completing the Nike Full and Half Marathons. Expect plenty of energy including live bands, DJs, coffee, donuts and a whole lot of cheering.

Toilets

Competitors will have access to toilets at the MCG via Gate 1 from 4:30am on Race Day right through until the venue closes at 2:00pm. Limited portable toilet units will be available at the Start Line. We encourage competitors to make use of the portable toilet in Yarra Park and the  permanent, toilet facilities offered at the MCG. From there it’s just a short walk over the Tennis Centre footbridge to the Start Line. There will be portable toilets available to competitors at the Drink Station locations on the course. Spectators can access MCG toilets via Gate 2 from 5:00am. Please note that all toilets are located downstairs at the MCG on Level B1.


Finish Line

Once you have finished your event, please move through the finish area as quickly as possible to avoid congestion for other competitors wanting to cross the Finish Line. Although you will want to celebrate here (rightfully so), there will be competitors coming in right behind you so keep moving through. This is not the place to wait for your mate.

All competitors will receive a finisher’s medallion on their way out of the finish area. 


Presentations

Trophies will be awarded to the place getters on Saturday for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters of the the SriLankan Airlines 10k, as well as on Sunday for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters of the  Nike Melbourne Marathon and Nike Half Marathon. These will take place on the main stage, inside the MCG. You can also catch them on the Event’s Livestream!
