The Melbourne Marathon Festival for the second year in a row achieved another record 37,185 participants and a new highlight as the largest ever Marathon event in Australian history.
Melbourne turned on an almost perfect day for the event with cool morning conditions and little wind, this was favourable for the elite field, highlighted by two Kenyan athletes taking out the honours firstly, our 2017 Champion Isaac Birir and Naomi Jepkogei Maiyo taking victory on the day in the Marathon recording times of 2hr16mins31secs and 2hr35min34secs respectively.
