2025 Medical Pacer Application

Medical Pacers are qualified medical professionals who support runner safety on course.

Youโ€™ll start the race within a designated pace group (for example, the 3:30 marathon group), but your primary responsibility is to provide medical assistance on course if needed. You are there to keep an eye out for any runners in distress and step in quickly if an incident occurs.

Once you attend to a medical situation, you wonโ€™t need to rejoin your original pace group โ€” instead, youโ€™ll continue running and remain available to assist with any further medical incidents along the course.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Attending to medical incidents as they arise on course.
  • Reporting all incidents to the on-course Medical Control Room and remaining at the incident until medical support arrives.
  • Responding to medical requests from Event Control if directed.

This is an important role to assist the safety of runners at the Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival, while also contributing to the energy and encouragement of the pace teams. If youโ€™ve got the legs to run and the skills to help โ€“ weโ€™d love to have you on the team.
