Amy is running for her dad, and a cancer-free future.
On 2nd December 2024, Amy sadly lost one of the most important people her life โ her dad.ย
โHe was not only my dad but my best friend.โ – Amy.
Amyโs dad, Mark, had been unwell for about six months, during which time he fought hard to secure an appointment with a specialist. Sadly, he never made it to that crucial appointment.
On November 21st, Mark had become so unwell that he fronted up at the emergency department looking for answers. There, he received the devastating diagnosis of terminal cancer of the bowel and liver, with a prognosis of just seven to ten days to live. Ten days later, Mark passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, including Amy, his sister, brother, brother-in-law and even his 94-year-old father who had flown over from England when he was told the devastating news.

โI still cannot fathom a world without Dad in it. I will miss him every day of my life.โ โ Amy.
Before his passing, Amy told her dad sheโd run a marathon in his honour. When she learned that ACRF were looking for people to join #TeamACRF she knew this was the charity she was meant to support.
ACRF is dedicated to providing world-class scientists with the technology, equipment and infrastructure needed to develop better prevention, earlier detection and more effective treatments across all cancer types.
With her sights set on reaching her fundraising target, Amy says, โIt would mean the world to me, my family and those who have and will be affected by cancer in their lifetime.โ
