Get your young runners ready for the Bupa Healthy Cities Mini Marathon! Open to children aged 12 and under, this 1km race offers the perfect chance for the next generation of marathoners to experience the thrill of the event in their own way. With three waves based on age group ensuring a fun and safe environment, kids can earn their own medal and take their first step toward future Nike Melbourne Marathon festival glory. The Mini Marathon is more than just a run – it’s the start of an incredible journey!
If you purchased a Mini Marathon registration prior to the 5th of September, your bib will be posted out to you.
If you purchased a Mini Marathon registration after the 5th of September, you will need to pick up your bib from Race Week Office located at Gate 2 of the MCG on Thursday 9th of October through to Saturday 11th of October prior to your event start time. Saturday Bib Collection is between 7-9am.
Can I bring my pram or stroller on course?
For those participating in Wave C (6 years and under), you may bring a pram or stroller with you if you wish. All we ask is that you start at the back of the group for the safety of the other participants.
Do I need to run with a companion?
Children participating in Wave A (aged 10 to 12 years old on Race Day) do not require a companion.
Children participating in Wave B (aged 7 to 9 years old on Race Day) can bring a companion if they wish, it is not mandatory.
Children participating in Wave C (aged 6 and under on Race Day) must participate with a companion.
My children are both participating in Wave C (6 and under), can I be a companion for them both?
Yes, if you can be a companion for more than one child.
Do I need anything as a companion?
You will need a companion wristband. You will either receive your wristband with the Mini Marathon bib in the mail, or you can pick one up from Race Week Office.
Are all three Waves competitive?
No, only Wave A (aged 10-12 years) is a competitive race.
Can children in different age groups run in the same wave?
Unfortunately no, children need to run in the age category assigned.
