For 2026 the Nike Melbourne Marathon (42.195km) and Nike Half Marathon (21.1km) will open via ballot system to ensure every runner has an equal opportunity to secure a place on the start line.
The ballot will officially open on Thursday 13 November at 10:00am AEDT. During this ballot window, premium registrations – including VIR and the all-new Club 42 – will also be allocated via their own ballot process.
The ballot will close on Tuesday 25 November at 10:00am AEDT. If you need your ballot application withdrawn, please notify us in writing at [email protected] before the ballot closes.
From Wednesday 26 November, all applicants will receive an email advising whether they were successful of unsuccessful. Please ensure the email address entered on your ballot application is correct before submitting.
Successful applicants will have their nominated payment method automatically charged at the time their ballot entry is confirmed. You will not be charged to enter the ballot – you will only be charged if successful. If your card does not have sufficient funds or payment cannot be processed, the entry will be forfeited and offered to the next runner.
Spartans and applicable volunteers receive guaranteed access and do not need to enter the ballot. If you fall into one of these groups, you should have already received communication directly from your Spartan contact or IMG with instructions on how to register.
All other Festival events will go on sale in February 2026.
