Run and Raise at the 2020 Virtual Melbourne Marathon

Join the 2020 Virtual Melbourne Marathon and run for a cause. Set the challenge and connect with our incredible running community, all whilst supporting your chosen charity.

2020 participant Erica and her team Run of Courage for Megan are using the event to shine a light on Bowel Cancer Research while also raising money for the Peter Mac Cancer Centre.

In 2019, Megan Martin whilst mid-cancer treatment committed to running the Melbourne Marathon 10km course. A group of Megan’s closest friends, including Erica went into Melbourne City to courageously see her conquer her mental and physical barriers, and cross that finish line. At that point they all committed to running the 2020 Melbourne Marathon with her.

Unfortunately, on April 25th 2020, Megan lost her battle with Bowel Cancer and passed away. “Due to COVID restrictions we still haven’t had a funeral & there is no doubt myself, along with others will complete courses of the Melbourne Marathon in Megan’s honour, as well as honouring other friends & families impacted by cancer. It’s been a big year and this is something we can focus on together”.

In 2019 Megan raised funds for Peter Mac Cancer Centre, but specifically for Bowel Cancer Research. Erica and her team ‘Run of Courage for Megan’ are continuing this legacy at the 2020 Virtual Melbourne Marathon.

The Virtual Melbourne Marathon will connect our global running community at a time when we need it most. Get your team together and join runners from across the globe as we pound the pavement, all while shining a light on a charity that is close to your heart.
