What was it like to win the Nike Melbourne Marathon?
After two previous third place finishes at Melbourne marathon it made winning the event even more special as I never thought this result would be possible. Plus the support on the course and post race was very unexpected and very much appreciated.
What’s your best advice to those looking to run their first Marathon?
Practice your nutrition before race day. I believe race nutrition is equally as important as the months of hard training required. Melbourne marathon had Maurten on course so in my particular case I included their products during my long runs and marathon workouts.
Do you have a favourite moment from the day?
I would be lying if I didn’t say taking the lead with 1km remaining.
What was your favourite part of the course?
My favourite part of the course is coming back from Port Melbourne along beach road. As you get close to Fitzroy street in St Kilda you get support from other marathoners heading towards Port Melbourne plus there is normally good crowd support on the side of the road.
What three words would you use to describe the Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival?
The Peoples Marathon
